GeoVerra continues to achieve industry-leading safety scores and aims to finish the year strong

Edmonton, Alta (Nov. 22, 2022) – GeoVerra, one of Canada’s largest surveying and geomatics firms, is pleased to announce that they received an outstanding score of 95 percent on the internal Certificate of Recognition (COR) audit for all provinces in which they operate. This, along with achieving over 3.6 million hours worked without a lost time injury, is a huge accomplishment for a company that has undergone substantial change over the last two and a half years.

Director, HSE, Jen Alain comments, “Reaching a milestone like this is a testament to how hard the team works to keep safety top-of-mind on every job site and our commitment to integrating our core value of working safely into every aspect of our operations.”

She attributes these two significant achievements to the positive safety culture that’s been built through a visible commitment by leadership, mentoring of new hires, proactive reporting, quarterly trend analysis, and Management Field Observations (MFOs), to name a few.

Strengths and comments that came out of the internal COR audit include:

  • Senior and middle management’s commitment to health and safety is very evident.
  • Management is committed to supporting health and safety improvements.
  • The Formal Hazard Assessments library is a valuable resource and encompasses all tasks undertaken by our employees.
  • The HSE team collects an extensive amount of safety statistical data reported by GV team members and puts a significant amount of attention into trending and analyzing hazards to bring awareness, making improvements to the Company’s safety program and preventing incidents with an extremely proactive approach.

To enhance the Company’s top-down commitment to safety, the HSE team will launch a training program for leaders in Q1 of 2023. “We recognize our leaders hold significant influence in shaping our culture as well as in our overall health and safety performance, and we want to set them up for success,” comments Mitch Ettinger, chief operating officer. “We’re proud to offer industry-leading safety programs and support, and this is another fantastic tool in our toolbox.”
