Introducing Rob Andrews: GeoVerra’s New BC Manager of Line Locating

Edmonton, AB (November 26, 2024) – At GeoVerra, we believe that strong leadership is key to delivering exceptional service, and we’re excited to welcome Rob Andrews as our new Manager of Line Locating in our British Columbia region! With over a decade of experience in utility locating and a professional background rooted in geomatics and project management, Rob brings a wealth of expertise and a passion for taking on complex projects.

A Career Built on Problem-Solving and Precision

Rob’s journey into line locating began early in his career. After years of utility locating in Northern BC, he expanded his skillset by earning a diploma in Geomatics with a specialization in mapping and an Associate’s Certificate in Project Management from BCIT. Since then, he has taken on various roles, including GIS technician, engineering assistant, and traffic control technician for major infrastructure projects like Segment 2 of the Port Mann Bridge.

“I’ve always worked in utility-adjacent fields,” Rob shares. “For me, utility locating is about figuring out how to approach complicated projects and breaking them down, so they’re done efficiently and safely. Every project presents a new challenge, which keeps things interesting.”.

A Commitment to Honesty and Teamwork

Throughout his career, Rob has been guided by one key value: honesty. “One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is to always be honest and forthright with clients,” he explains. “Most people are willing to forgive mistakes if you’re upfront and willing to be frank about the situation.” Rob attributes his work ethic and career success to the support of his family, friends, and the ability to find balance with a stress-free weekend and a good pair of headphones.

Elevating GeoVerra’s Line Locating Services in BC

With Rob’s leadership, GeoVerra’s line locating team in British Columbia is poised to continue delivering precise, trustworthy results to clients. We understand that hiring a subsurface utility locating team involves transferring significant risk, which is why we prioritize accuracy, safety, and innovation in all we do. Our team of surveyors, engineers, line locating technicians, and CAD specialists have extensive experience working on projects across the country and tackling unexpected challenges of the job.

Depending on the project, we use a range of technologies, including ground penetrating radar (GPR), which offers 2D cross-sections and 3D depictions of buried infrastructure. This advanced, non-invasive technology provides valuable insights for the maintenance, operation, and construction of utilities.

Our services include:

  • Conventional electromagnetic locating and marking of buried utilities
  • Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR)
  • Void and leak detection
  • CAD plan preparation
  • Utility relocation plans
  • Site management
  • Hazardous waste mapping

From small-scale utility locates to complex infrastructure projects, GeoVerra is proud to serve clients in British Columbia with a commitment to precision and trust. If you’re looking for a partner in subsurface utility locating, reach out to our team today to learn more about how we can support your project.
