Edmonton, Alta (February 14, 2023) – GeoVerra announced that its Chief Executive Officer, John Nielsen, who has held various roles at EXH, Genivar and WSP, plans to retire at the end of the first quarter. The company’s current Chief Operating Officer, Mitch Ettinger, has been appointed to succeed Nielsen effective April 1, 2023.
Nielsen, who has been with the company since it launched, shares, “The last three years have been a highlight of my career. Launching and building GeoVerra into an amazing company, in the middle of a global pandemic, was an incredible challenge that was only possible with the efforts of a high-performance team.” Nielsen, who came over from one of GeoVerra’s legacy firms WSP adds, “We’ve built something great, and it will continue to flourish with the fantastic leadership team we have in place. I’m excited to watch GV grow and prosper under Mitch Ettinger and the leadership team.”
Ettinger, who held the role of President at Altus Geomatics before moving over to GeoVerra, is an excellent leader, mentor, and advocate. As a seasoned surveying professional with a strategic mindset, he will continue to support GeoVerra’s growth and business strategy as the company continues to position itself as an industry leader.
With Ettinger’s promotion to CEO, other moves have been made to the organizational structure to complement the leadership group. Leo Edwards will be promoted to National Vice-President, Operations and Jeff Adair will take over Leo’s previous role of Vice-President, Alberta. Both Edwards and Adair are valuable, enthusiastic leaders who will continue to set a positive example and drive efficient operations across the business.
