Example Project: Toronto Water Watermain Rehabilitation Program
- Eight year program running from 2015 to 2023 supporting cathodic protection and structural lining for watermains
- Approximately three hundred maps produced each year for both cathodic protection and structural lining
- GIS team delivered a web portal during the first four years that provided access to watermains, related assets and data such as curb stops
- Completed a city wide NDVI analysis in the first year using near infrared imagery to identify vegetation and hard surfaces above watermains
- NDVI insights helped the engineering team select appropriate watermain candidates for rehabilitation
